Environment:

This game is so enchanting that sometimes you just want to sit back and enjoy the beauty that surrounds Ori. The elements of darkness and light are used in perfect harmony. The glowing colors of plants, water and other vital elements imparts a sense of liveliness to them ,whereas the murky and gothy aura emitted from spikes, fire and poisonous water and pits impose a sense of hazard and lifelessness. The background is as lively and dynamic as the foreground. Whenever Ori is in some danger, you will see lightning and feel the thunder (on gamepad :) ) and when Ori finds something mesmerizing then in the background you can see the leaves drifting in the gentle breeze.
Throughout his journey Ori travels various places , like an untouchable magma filled cave,a frozen valley rigged with traps and puzzles, a gusty tree trunk suitable for paragliding and a deep pond full of poisonous fish. This game's environment is better than other 2d sidescroller games like rayman games, claw ,unravel , neverending nightmare etc.

Gameplay:

Skills:

Throught out the game as Ori advances through the forest he gains various skills bit by bit. Initially Ori's skill set is limited to a single jump and walking but eventually Ori's arsenal is loaded with various skills like double jump, gliding, shooting, close proximity blast, ground stomp and my personal favorite enemy bash.
In total there are total 9 skills that Ori gains one by one.

Saving and checkpoint:

Ori can create a checkpoint by creating a spirit link at expense of an energy shard. The spirit well can also be used to save game. The game automatically saves after a crucial sequence. Ori can only create the soul link in a safe zone on stable ground. Ori will be re-spawned at the nearest save point with all the points, life and energy restored .

Maps:

This game uses two maps to guide the player throughout the game. One is the over-map that marks the different regions of all the world and the other is the level map, which is more specific. You use map stone fragment to find or show the hidden locations of various essentials of the game.

Player progression and upgrades:

Ori gains various abilities as he travels the world, solving various puzzles and escaping deadly natural forces. And ori can upgrade these abilities at the expense of ability points which are made up of experience points, which he gains after defeating various enemies.
The ability tree has three branches as shown. Each is focused on Ori's one particular skill.

Major gaming part:

Most of the game is focused on solving puzzles and escaping various forces sometimes magma, water Kuro etc.
Its boss level is actually a race against various elements like magma, water, wind, and the villain Kuro.
In some levels Ori has to utilize additional properties and abilities of various orbs like anti gravity orb etc to get through the stage.
Ori is accompanied by the tiny light called Sein, throughout the game. The light guides ori through the forest explaining the functions of various parts of the forest. It also shoots energy to help Ori defeat the enemy.
Timing and speed are required to advance in the game. Patience with trial and error is required to find the right path to advance.
The game is heavily dependent on trial and error. You will have to memorize each step you take.
Especially in boss stages because in that it is very unlikely to succeed in the first go.

Story and characters:

Once upon a time in a peacefull forest there came a violent storm which seperated Ori from the Spirit light tree . The lost Ori was found by Naru, who adopted him. As the seasons changed Ori grew with Naru and they developed a mother-son relation.
But on one fateful night the Light Tree lit the skies ablaze to call Ori back to home but Ori never came to home. Unknowingly the intense light took life of Kuro's recently hatched offspring. So Kuro in order to save his unhatched egg, took away the core on top of the Spirit Tree, which is actually Sein. This in turn destroyed the balance of the forest which caused a famine. So in order to restore
balance of the forest Ori and Sein traveled the world ,restoring the vital elements of the forest.

Music:

Music of the game is as captivating as the visuals of the game. It is serene in calm areas and pulsating and full of panic in dangerous intense situations.

Final conclusion:

The game's negative points were as follows:
1.lack of any other major boss to fight with.
2.the game becomes a bit repetitive.
The game's positive points were as follows:
1.good story
2.innovative game play
3.excellent environment
So despite its negative points,I would surely recommend this game. For all the 2d side-scroll enthusiasts out there this game is a must play.

From jaw dropping graphics to deafening explosions this game has it all. The game has been set in a futuristic world. It is the year 2054 when a terrorist attack happens.
You are back stabbed by your PMC (Private military corporation) whose head knew about the attack. It is all a part of a bigger plan. Whereby the attack is used to improve the PMC’s reputation. Eventually the head declares war against the world by planning to release a bio chemical agent and you have to make things right as the sentinel.

The futuristic environment, the characters ,combat mechanics have been detailed accurately. This game is a first person shooter. Expect straight forward missions where you have to complete a certain set of steps such as to eliminate certain targets, retrieve certain information and a variety of other tasks which are common in fps. It might give the game a similar look at first sight. But the new game play mechanics(exo suits, grappling hooks) refreshes it completely.

The grappling hooks can be used to move swiftly in air from one position to another to avoid enemy fire. It can also be used to kill the pilots by pulling them out of their suits using stealth kill.

Your arsenal is quite impressive having state of the art equipment and weapons. Different types of grenades are available like threat, which show you where the enemy is located in case of obstructions. Emp is used for disabling  electronic weapons and suits. Weapon drops are random, with enemy dropping more customized weaponry with added scope and powerful guns.

The single player campaign is short. Although the story feels captivating. Using different types of abilities in order to complete missions keeps you moving. Well the stealth missions feel a bit difficult because switching between modes is not permitted.

There are a total of fifteen missions as :

Induction:  In this mission North Korea has invaded South Korea’s capital city, Seoul. On your first mission as a U.S Marine, your squad must help to push the attackers back and reclaim the city.

Atlas: At the funeral of your best friend, you meet Jonathan irons. He offers you a second chance, working for the Atlas corporation.

Traffic: Now an Atlas operative, your squad must rescue the Nigerian Prime Minister from the KVA, a global terrorist organization.

Fission:  Stop the KVA from triggering a meltdown at a U.S. nuclear power plant.

Aftermath:  Here you have to gather information about a top official of KVA.

Manhunt: Here you have to find and kill the KVA top brass Hades .

Utopia:  In this mission you come to know of the atlas ulterior motives and join with sentinel task force to stop them.

Sentinel: In this mission you visit the Johnathan irons estate to gather information about upcoming arms deal.

Armada:  In this mission your task is to get control over the carrier which was taken over by atlas forces and then destroying the cargo ships of the atlas.

Throttle:  In this mission you and your allied forces attack Baghdad, where atlas's new headquarters are located and fight until he releases manticore to eliminate all the sentinel forces and you are captured.

Captured:  In this mission you have to escape from the captured prisoner camp and fight your way out of the camp.

Terminus:  The final mission where you stop the worldwide manticore invasion and kill irons.

This game does not have much in terms of campaign. But it has been represented in a well polished manner which most seasoned fps players would like. You won't be disappointed to play this game.
Grotesque bosses, haunted hordes of half dead zombies, and on top of it, a limited supply of ammo to defend yourself against Ruvik. The creator of resident evil franchise, Shinji Mikami finally delivered a game as good as resident evil 2 and 4.

Scarce resources and ammunition are the key to making a good survival horror game. Other games like Alien:Isolation made quite an impact on the gaming industry following the same strategy of giving limited resources to the player.

The dust or blood like particles floating in the air add to the scary environment of the game. As the game proceeds you will encounter the bosses, and you will forget about environment and you will solely focus on how to kill that entity to survive, and that my friend is what makes this game awesome.

The only thing that kinda sucked the fun out of the game is the awkward position of camera and character control, it made it difficult to watch around the corners to look for trouble but I think that, not knowing what is around the corner added to the scary element of the game.

Horror is nothing without a good story and this game's plot has all of the horror punchlines. The story is about Ruvik, the villain and Sebastian, the protagonist. The player will get to know about the past of Sebastian through a series of lost diaries that will be found before every checkpoint and through a series of visions that Sebastian will have. We will know about the tragedies that convert a genius, innocent child into blood thirsty sadist.

Story

Sebastian along with his partners Joseph Oda and Juli Kidman, enter a hospital to respond to a massacre at the hospital. After a short while they begin experiencing a series of unfortunate events that revolve around a mentally unstable patient named Leslie Withers and Ruvik. Ruvik was using Leslie as a way of his return to the real world, so to prevent that Kidman is determined to kill Sebastian but our hero stands against her.

Some screens from game

Above is a vision that Sebastian is having about past of Ruvik. These visions generally had Ruvik in injured state explaining his progress on an experiment that he was conducting along with Dr Marcelo Jimenez, also the doctor of Leslie.

The mirror acts as a portal which takes Sebastian to the asylum where upgrading chair and other utilities are kept.

Weapon's wheel has a maximum of eight elements. Sebastian has a wide range of weapons like a sniper rifle, shotgun, magnum and other tools like medicine box, matches.

The game has an innovative approach as to how Sebastian will upgrade his skills and save his checkpoint. The given scene involved an asylum which can only be reached through a special mirror, and there were all the tools which made Sebastian stronger. Nurse Tatiana taught Sebastian how to use various resources of the asylum. Upgrades can only be purchased in exchange on green goo like stuff.

Another scene from final game sequence.

Sebastian staring down at the insanely crazy and deadly maze.

The beacon hospital's light.

Sebastian aiming a rocker launcher at the final Ruvik monster

Sebastian being surrounded by the sewer's half dead haunted.

Laura coming after Sebastian after tearing a metal mesh.

A haunted being sliced by the maze's blade.

The mind having the control of the whole haunted world.

The sewer monster.

Sebastian performing a silent kill on a haunted.

Sebastian shooting blinding and shock bolt at the ring leaders of haunted.

Laura creeping on Sebastian from behind the metal mesh cage.

Ruvik explaining his whole plan and why he is invincible.

Laura mashing the Sebastian's head to pulp.

Sebastian shooting a 50 cal at the final boss.

Sebastian shooting at the burning haunted.
Ruvik inside the mind of the final boss.

The best part of the game was figuring out how to defeat the bosses because you cant solely rely on fire power and melee attacks to defeat the bosses. You have to utilize your ammo and various bolts in best way possible. Having full knowledge of your surroundings and traps is essential while in a fight against a truly terrifying entity like the keeper(i call it square head) and the multi-limbed Rebon Laura (the hairy creature).. whoooo...they still scare the sh*t out of me..sometimes you will find yourself cornered without anything left to fight back but you have to keep your calm and run.

So that you can come up with a strategy and beat the shit out of that monster.. and the feeling you get when after a long struggle you finally emerge victorious from jaws of an evil... well that is priceless..you feel invincible and encouraged to advance forward into the deeper and darker evil just to get that feeling again. After playing this game you will not be afraid of dark and evil cos your nerves will be of steel.

My final opinion on the game:

The realistic game play, amazing graphics, spooky surrounding, a psychotic villain constantly giving you creeps...well what else you need to keep you sleepless and awake for nights. Well there is always a room for improvement, like full screen glitch fix and better placement of camera but nevertheless if you want to start playing survival horror but you don't want to play classics like resident evil 4, this game is a solid recommendation.
MORTAL KOMBAT X

  • Amazing x-ray brutalities, cinematic finishing moves, and realistic gore combat combined in an amazing manner to make an excellent fighting game.
  • One line you can say about the game, mortal kombat x is simply the best mortal kombat out there, well-polished and better than all the other mortal kombats in the series.
  • A huge roster of 25 characters(some characters will be unlocked in the story or their variations from krypt)with an adiition of 8 new characters.
  • The new engine makes the fights look much more realistic. Dashing and sprinting are faster and fighting looks awesome with all the fancy x rays and amazing brutalities.
  • But yes one of the minor development glitches is that some characters have excess detailing (scorpion, De’vorah) whose  minute details have been rendered very accurately but some others, for instance the special forces Sonia, look bland.
  • The story is short and unique. Unlike mortal kombat 9, (here) the story starts with the description of shinok’s war against the elder gods. The story is then divided into 12 chapters.
  • You would be provided with a single character for each chapter. You will have to win fights to progress through the storyline .
  •  Also, there are set of QuickTime events, one of which could be a character attacking you or your friends. You will see a quick button appear on the screen and you have to press that button before time is out.

Chapter 1 - Johnny Cage

Given the extensive list of characters and variations, you will have plenty to choose from and adapt to different fighting styles. Here you can bring your opponent down with variety of light as well as heavy attacks. You also have choice of fatality and combos which you can execute to finish your opponent in style. I generally preferred a series of light and heavy attacks to bring the opponents health down.

Another  place of interest is the krypt where you can spend your in game currency to buy new character variations as well as fatalities and skip tokens, You can enjoy roaming at various places (cemetery, spider cave).

Personally apart from paying money to blast statues (yes pay and statue goes boom!! Revealing a new character fatality, variation or concept art) what I liked here the most is the QTE(Quick Time Events) where you are being attacked by a wolf or spider.(really their sudden attack frightened me, hehe).

These things make the krypt look more like a mini game (small adventure with hidden treasures and monsters)than addition.
Multiplayer fights are one of the main attractions of the game as here you will face real world mkx starters to veterans. Here no mistake is tolerated as your opponents will not spare a second to break your bones if they get the chance. So my recommendation is to practice a lot with the game if you want to win in multiplayer matches.

Final conclusion:

Mortal Kombat X is something to be reckoned upon. Great graphics, variety of finishing moves and eye catching graphics will keep you glued. Story line doesn't matter much in such a well polished and thrilling game. Hands down to one of the best fighting games I have played. I recommend all hard core fighting game fans to buy it, you'll not be disappointed.
